PSTN stands for Public Switched Telephone Network and is an international telephone system based on copper wires transferring analog voice data. The telephone service carried by the PSTN is also known as the Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS). Simply put, it is an old-fashioned telephone network with phone devices connected to cooper wires and with statically assigned phone numbers.
